Bargains in Books: The Lenox Library’s 22nd Annual Huge Book Sale

Looking for a great deal on an amazing selection of books? The Lenox Library’s 22nd annual book sale will be held this year on Friday, August 25 through Sunday, August 27, at the Lenox Library, 18 Main Street.

This year’s “Bargains in Books” event will feature thousands of books in 40 categories, all donated from Berkshire homes. Many of the books are in like-new condition.  A Special Interest selection offers collectors’ items, including books published in the 19th century and earlier, signed first editions and sets.

For a donation of $5, book dealers and members of the public can gain early admission from 9 am – noon on Friday, August 25.  “First look” admission numbers will be available beginning at 8 am. The sale continues with free admission from noon to 5 pm on Friday and from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Visitors to the event are asked to bring their own bags and boxes.

Children’s books at bargain prices is the largest category, followed by fiction, art, and biography.  Other popular categories include gardening, cookbooks, poetry, the Berkshires, military history, crafts and hobbies.  Audiobooks, CDs and DVDs are also for sale.  Prices start at 50 cents for small paperbacks, and at $1.50 for large paperbacks and hardcovers.

This year’s sale will also feature artwork, including framed original paintings and prints.

The annual book sale is the primary fund-raising event for the Lenox Library, and is a much-anticipated event in the town’s summer calendar.  All proceeds from the book sale benefit the library’s many services, programs, and activities offered to the public year-round free of charge.
